“…The concentration of F − ions was relatively high in FLiNaK, resulting in strong bonding and solvation of thorium. P. Soucek et al 14 studied that the ThF 4 activity coefficient in the LiF–CaF 2 melt was about 4 orders of magnitude higher than in the LiF–NaF–KF eutectic melts. Similar results were obtained for ZrF 4 –FLiNaK and ZrF 4 –FLiBe.…”
With the addition of BeO in ThF4–FLiBe, ThF4 was converted to nonvolatile ThO2. Carrier salt, FLiBe, could be recovered from ThF4–FLiBe salt using precipitation–distillation coupled method.

scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
