Electrocardiogram and serum cardiac biomarkers changes in FMD in cattle

Abstract: This study was designed to evaluate serum and electrocardiographic (ECG) changes in cattle with foot-and-mouth disease (FMD). Thirty-two cows with clinical signs of FMD and 13 healthy cows were randomly enrolled. After blood sampling, ECG was performed on 23 of the 32 ill cows. Serum circulatory troponin I (cTnI), CPK, LDH, and CK-MB activities were determined in the patient and control groups. Arrhythmias including ventricular tachycardia (VT), sinus tachycardia (ST), atrial fibrillation (AF), and premature v… Show more

“…Though the CK-MB is more speci c in cardiac muscles yet it has low activity in other bodily tissues such as skeletal, brain, uterus and brain. Increased levels of both these biomarkers in various livestock and pet animals affected with any of the cardiac pathologies have been reported earlier(Nikvand et al, 2019;Xu et al, 2020;Sepulveda, et al, 2022). .035 ± 0.015ng/mL(Kirbas et al, 2014) which is lower than the value of the present study.…”

“…Regarding veterinary medical sciences and ascertaining of cardiac biomarkers for livestock, increased levels of aforementioned cardiac biomarkers in various cattle breeds and pet animals affected with any of the cardiac pathologies have been reported globally (Nikvand et al 2019;Sepulveda et al 2022).…”
