“…Polymers with imide [338][339][340]343,[345][346][347][348][349][350][351][352]) and amide [351,353] structures (which are of interest from a practical point of view), demonstrate certain regularities in their relaxation phenomena. The much larger polarity and polarisability of C-N and N-H bonds in comparison with C-C and C-H provide the relaxation effects of several mechanisms.…”

“…The data in Figs. [4][5][6][7] show that in the temperature range from 370 to 470 K the β 2 relaxation is entering. For the β relaxation various mechanisms have been proposed involving motions that, while still essentially local in character, encompass larger portions of the repeat unit that respond in a correlated manner.…”

“…PI is a hydrophilic polymer and its dielectric properties largely depend upon absorbed water or humidity [4][5][6]. A good deal of work on electrical conduction in PI at low fields [7][8][9][10][11] and high fields [6,12] has been reported. The work on conduction phenomena in PI has been revised in [3].…”

“…In this case, the reduction of leakage current can be explained by the reduced concentration of conductive ions in the polyimide from 11 ϫ10 15 atoms/cm 3 to 2.4ϫ10 15 atoms/cm 3 due to the plasma fluorination. In fact, the ionic conduction of polyimide has been described, [20][21][22] in terms of protons (H ϩ ) in the polyimide that act as carriers for ionic conduction. This suggests that the leakage current was reduced by hydrogen ions combining with fluorine atoms to form HF.…”
