The color of oranges originates from carotenoids, which are natural pigments ranging from yellow to red color and is indicative of the sugar level and degree of ripeness. During the degreening process, the fruit quality can deteriorate, which is manifested as insufficient ripeness and sugar (sucrose) content. Therefore, in this study, we have designed a low-cost, easy-to-use optoelectronic system to measure the sugar content in orange and lemon juice. The system consists of a U-shaped plastic optical fiber (POF) and a visible multispectral sensor. The device identifies variation in the absorption of the evanescent field of the POF when it comes in contact with orange juice. The response of the multispectral sensor in the wavelength range of 450–650 nm is digitally captured, improving the efficiency and accuracy of the measurements. To validate the multispectral sensor measurements, the sugar contents are compared with those obtained using a visible spectrum analyzer and refractometer.

To ensure appropriate quality control during marketing, accurate assessment of sugar content in citrus fruits is essential. Additionally, it is important to limit sugar intake of people with medical conditions. In this study, we present a simplified and accurate approach for measuring sucrose content in Valencia oranges by using a low-cost optoelectronic system that we designed and fabricated. The proposed system comprises a plastic optical fiber (POF) integrated with a multispectral sensor for obtaining the visible spectrum of citrus juices. This integration enabled the detection of absorption changes in the evanescent field of the POF when contacted with the juice samples. The multispectral sensor digitally records the response, capturing wavelengths from 415-910 nm. The collected data are further processed and analyzed using an information management system. By incorporating these optical and electronic components, a compact and affordable automated instrument was fabricated that can potentially replace conventional laboratory equipment for determining the Brix sugar content of fruits.

Simulator berperan penting untuk mendukung pembelajaran di perguruan tinggi, khususnya yang berkaitan dengan teknologi, sehingga dapat mempermudah untuk menyelesaikan persoalan dengan resiko kerusakan alat yang minim. EasyEDA merupakan salah satu simulator rangkaian listrik yang cukup populer, mudah diakses di Internet, dan gratis. Keunggulan yang ditawarkan yaitu mampu menyimpan file pengguna di server sehingga apabila ingin meneruskan proyek yang sudah dibuat, dapat dilanjutkan kembali di device lain sekiranya masih terkoneksi dengan internet. Akan tetapi masih belum banyak studi yang mengeksplorasinya, terutama dalam kaitannya dengan aspek pedagogi. Oleh karena itu, tujuan dari studi ini adalah untuk mengisi gap tersebut dengan mengkaji EasyEDA melalui persoalan rangkaian listrik sederhana, yaitu Mesh 2 loop. Analisis dilakukan dengan membandingkan tegangan resistor pada rangkaian antara hasil perhitungan matematis terhadap pengukuran EasyEDA. Selain itu, pembuktian eksperimental juga dilakukan. Hasil observasi menunjukkan bahwa simulator EasyEDA memberikan hasil yang cukup akurat dalam mengukur tegangan pada rangkaian mesh 2 loop sederhana baik terhadap perhitungan maupun eksperimen real. Secara umum, hasil simulasi pada EasyEDA dapat diandalkan sebagai alat bantu untuk menganalisis dan merencanakan rangkaian elektronika karena mampu menghasilkan nilai pengukuran yang identik dengan eksperimen real maupun perhitungan teori
