Elastic scattering of protons from15N

Abstract: 12 C was measured concurrently. Results: Ratios of the excitation functions were extracted from the yield data. Resonances were identified in the yield ratio data which correspond to previously reported levels in 16 O. An R-matrix analysis, which fits the present data as well as previous measurements from the literature simultaneously, finds reasonable agreement between the current measurements and those in the literature. Conclusions: The additional data from this measurement will be combined with previous li… Show more

“…The present code allows for the analysis of multiple entrance and exit channels. In addition to the data presented in this work, the analysis included several additional sets of literature data from other reaction channels [19,20]. Because multiple particle decay channels are open over the entire energy region of the data, these additional reaction channel data are useful, and often necessary, in order to constrain the contributions to the total decay widths.…”

“…the energy range from E p = 0.6 to 1.8 MeV [38]. The yield ratios were measured at 105 • , 135 • , 150 • , and 165 • using measurements at θ lab = 90 • as the reference angle.…”

“…In Ref. [38,39], new yield-ratio data for the reactions 12 C(α, α 1 ) 12 C and 12 C(α, p) 15 N were performed at the University of Notre Dame in order to provide additional data for a comprehensive Rmatrix analysis of compound-nucleus reactions populating 16 O. The data are in the form of yield ratios where the 12 C(α, α 0 ) 12 C yields measured at an angle θ lab = 58.9…”

However, complexity of reaction mechanisms of 12 C+α makes it extremely difficult to determine the S factor, despite five decades of experimental investigations yet, the desired accuracy and precision associated with the 12 C(α, γ) 16 O reaction continues to be an obstacle (See the Table I).…”
