“…The 15 N(p, γ) 16 O reaction has been the subject of several recent measurements at the LUNA facility and the University of Notre Dame's nuclear science laboratory (Bemmerer et al, 2009;Caciolli, A. et al, 2011;Imbriani et al, 2012;LeBlanc et al, 2010). This was highly motivated by new measurements of the bound state proton ANCs in 16 O (Mukhamedzhanov et al, 2008), which gave strong evidence that the measurement of Rolfs and Rodney (1974) over estimated the low energy cross section, a common theme.…”

“…There is no higher energy data for these transitions so their higher energy behavior is unknown. In fact the higher energy (above S p ) constraint of this fit comes indirectly from 15 N(p, γ) 16 O cascade transition data (Imbriani et al, 2012), and these have large uncertainties. One likely reason for such good fits is that external capture is the dominant contribution to the cascade transitions at low energy, lessening the effects of resonance interference.…”

“…This assumption has previously been proven experimentally [30]. Recently, new data and extrapolations became available for the off-resonant cross section [41][42][43].…”

“…From a re-analysis of the γ ray spectra of Ref. [9], cross sections for the cascade transitions to the E x = 6.05, 6.13, and 7.12 MeV bound states of 16 O and the 15 N(p, αγ 1 ) 12 C reaction were extracted [54]. An R-matrix analysis of the cascade transitions together with the ground state transition confirmed that the ground state dominates the cross section at stellar energies.…”
