Abstract: Este artículo discute El Señor Presidente, tal vez la obra más conocida de Miguel Ángel Asturias, autor que, hace cincuenta años, era galardonado con el Premio Nobel de Literatura. El texto almeja reflexionar sobre la violencia como uno de los elementos definidores de la obra y de la ficción latinoamericana del Siglo XX, además de analizar lo fantástico en la narrativa.
