Reception of experimental pedagogy and psychology in Chile. Analysis of the intellectual influences of Wilhelm Mann, 1904–1915

“…In that sense, this work is also important for future studies on the reception of Stern's work in Latin America and especially his project of differential psychology, which has recently been recovered by authors such as James T. Lamiell (see Lamiell, 2003). This article is framed in a series of studies on the critical history of Latin American psychology that have developed new interpretations of the different foundational myths and the visibilization of the political and cultural effects of the reception of psyknowledge in different countries, such as Colombia (Jaraba‐Barrios, 2012), Argentina (Fierro, 2015), and Brazil (Freire Figueira & Boarini, 2015). These studies have also criticized the classical periodization of the history of psychology that was elaborated from the 1960s onward and that elaborated the first accounts of the development before its institutionalization in Latin America and after its establishment as a profession.…”
