Eine neue Lesetafel* zur gleichzeitigen Bestimmung von Lesevisus und Lesegeschwindigkeit

Abstract: With these reading charts it is for the first time possible to simultaneously determine reading acuity as well as reading speed in German. The high reliability of the 24 phrases and the high correlation between LogMAR and LogRAD leads us to expect a good reproducibility of the reading acuity evaluations. For the "Radner Reading Charts" we have shown that print size is the main reason for changes of reading speed.

“…The regular scheduled follow-up visit included the following: a protocol refraction BCVA measurement according to ETDRS 10 reading performance using the Radner test 15,16 ophthalmoscopic examination colour fundus photography autofluorescence measurement fluorescein (FA) and indocyanine green (ICG) angiography fixation testing and fundus-controlled microperimetry In short, fundus autofluorescence was measured with the Heidelberg retina angiograph (HRA II, Heidelberg Engineering GmbH, Dossenheim, Germany). To exclude influence of image brightness on autofluorescence measurements, grey-scale values of the patch area were compared with autofluorescence in a pristine area outside the patch within the same eye.…”

“…As baseline characteristics, secondary outcome measures such as sex, age, cardiovascular risk factors, cataract grade (LOCS-III charts) [37], retinal fluorescein angiography (FLA), OCT scans, distance acuity (ETDRS charts), near acuity (Radner charts) [38], contrast sensitivity (Pelli-Robson charts), and patient’s subjective visual function (VF-14 questionnaires) [39] were assessed in all patients. CDGAS as primary outcome measure was determined by digitized color fundus photographs.…”

“…The reading performance is evaluated using the Radner Reading charts for a testing distance of 25 cm. 5 Reading acuity was expressed as in logRAD. The MNREAD acuity chart were used in the trial site, Liverpool, the testing distance was 40 cm.…”
