Cycloaddition of the known 6-oxo-2,5-diphenyl-6H-1,3,4-oxadiazine (1 a) and the new 2,5-diary1 derivatives 1 b -g with various alkenes yield nitrogen free products. Using cyclopropenes and cyclobutene, a$-unsaturated seven-membered enollactones 42 -45 and the a$-unsaturated eight-membered enollactone 47 are formed, respectively. In the presence of basic aluminium oxide 423 and d undergo a hydrogen migration to form the P,y-unsaturated enollactones 461 and d, respectively. With other alkenes, y-ketoketenes 33 have been observed, or are assumed to be intermediates, based on the structure of the isolated products. The six-membered enollactones 10, 13, 15, 19, and 21 and 22 have been obtained with norbornene, norbornadiene, cyclopentene, trans-cyclooctene, and styrene. Compound 10 isomerizes to 34 on treatment with potassium tert-butoxide. The methanolyses of these enollactones result in the formation of the diastereomeric methyl esters 12 and 35. Die Primiiraddukte sind nicht beobachtbar; sie eliminieren elementaren Stickstoff i m Sinne einer Retro-Diels-Alder-Reaktion und gehen dabei in 4-(Diethylamino)-5-methyl-3,6-diphenyl-u-pyron bzw. 3,6-Diphenylbenzo-u-pyron uber. Weil letztere Substanz unmittelbar ein weiteres Molekiil Dehydrobenzol aufnimmt und nach Kohlendioxidabspaltung 9,10-Diphenylanthracen liefert, diirfte sie ein reaktiveres Dien sein als la. Sauer et a1.4) haben die Kinetik der Addition von Cyclooctin an l a und einige seiner substituierten Derviate (siehe Abschnitt B) gemessen und gezeigt, daB die Logarithmen der Geschwindigkeitskonstanten mit dem elektrochemisch ermittelten Reduktionspotential der 6-0xo-1,3,4-oxadiazine korrelieren.
