“…The significant biological interests and synthetic profiles of diazo compounds have triggered the development of novel methods to incorporate diazo functionality into more challenging structures . So far, the vast majority of well-established routes for accessing diazo compounds have been represented by the following: diazotization of activated methylene compounds (Scheme , Route I) and primary amines (Route II), alkaline cleavage of N -alkyl- N -nitrosoureas (Route III), dehydrogenation of hydrazones (Route IV), cleavage by treating sulfonylhydrazones with bases (Route V), and structural modifications of an existing diazo compound (Route VI) .
