An efficient process for the preparation of 2(3),9(10),16(17),23(24)-octa(nhexyl)cobalt(II)phthalocyanine, [(n-hexyl) 8 CoPc] (2) was described. The novel cobalt(II)phthalocyanine was characterized by spectroscopic methods. It was employed as a catalyst for the room temperature reductive dechlorination of chlorinated aromatic compounds (CACs). The results were showed that the CACs were completely dechlorinated within (110-120) min.
