“…Fourth, there were few false-positive and false-negative results on PET/CT. Lastly, there was no case of surgical excisional biopsy, which may affect the results even though US-guided tissue sampling is a well-known first-line investigation of choice that is safe, cost effective, and fast with a high diagnostic efficacy in cervical LNs [28][29][30]. We expect that further studies with larger sample sizes and various targeted patients will validate our results in the near future.…”

“…The authors suggest diagnostic lymphadenectomy as a second line diagnostic evaluation after two negative FNACs . In contrast, recent articles demonstrated low FNAC sensitivity rates (11%), particularly in lymphoma . Subclassification of lymphoma was possible in only 66% of patients .…”

“…In our view, FNAC in terms of sensitivity and time effort is not an alternative to surgical lymphadenectomy, and has, therefore, not be employed in this study. Sensitivity rates, especially for lymphoma, might be higher (up to 88%) for core needle gun biopsy . As this technique is not state of the art and tumor seeding might occur, this technique was not applied in our study.…”

“…Many different conditions may cause cervical lymphadenopathy (LAP), such as viral or bacterial i n f e c t i o n s , t u b e r c u l o s i s , toxoplasmosis, cat-scratch disease, Kikuchi's disease, collagen vascular disease and neoplasia. 1 However, the most common causes of LAP are inflammatory and reactive conditions, only a small proportion has serious pathology, such as malignancy. 2 Against this small proportion, many parents may be excessively worried about to enlarged lymph node, because of this association.…”
