Efficacy of trans-2-Hydroxycinnamic acid against Trichlorfon-induced oxidative stress in wistar rats

Abstract: Trichlorfon is an organophosphate insecticide used to control cockroaches, crickets, silverfish, bedbugs, fleas, cattle grubs, flies, ticks, leaf miners, and leaf-hoppers. It is also used to treat domestic animals for control of internal parasites. Trans-2-hydroxycinnamic acid (T2HCA) is a hydroxyl derivative of cinnamic acid. The present study highlights trichlorofon-induced toxicity and the protective role of T2HCA in the liver, kidney, and brain of female Wistar rats. The rats were given a single dose of tr… Show more

“…In the present study, dietary EAE recovered the activity of SOD and the content of GSH in the hepatopancreas and intestine of carp, which were decreased following trichlorfon exposure. This result was in good harmony with the reports that exposure to trichlorfon decreases SOD activity in giant freshwater prawn (Chang et al, 2006) and GSH content in wistar rats (Sharma & Singh, 2012), and EAs inhibit the doxorubicin-induced decrease in the activity of SOD in the hearts of mice (Xin et al, 2007). The intracellular GSH are usually kept at high levels through the reduction of oxidized GSH (GSSG) to GSH by GR (Chen, Zhou, Feng, Liu, & Jiang, 2009).…”

“…In this study, dietary EAE recuperated GR and GST activities in the hepatopancreas and intestine of carp, which were decreased by trichlorfon exposure. This was in good harmony with the reports that exposure to trichlorfon reduces the activity of GR in the liver, kidney, and brain of Wistar rats (Sharma & Singh, 2012) and induces GST depletion in the hearts of Nile tilapia (Thomaz et al, 2009). However, the information regarding the effects of active ingredients.…”

“…S-Methyl-5'-thioadenosine is a metabolite that can influence the regulation of gene expression, proliferation, differentiation, and apoptosis 61 . Both 4-Hydroxycinnamic acid and trans-2-hydroxycinnamic acid were important sources of antioxidants 62,63 . Both theobromine and ajmalicine were regarded as vasodilators.…”

“…Among those changed metabolites (Fig. 3 ), 2-hydroxycinnamic acid was reported to function as an antioxidant that can induce antioxidant response by increasing the levels of superoxide dismutase (SOD), catalase (CAT), glutathione-s-transferase (GST), glutathione reductase (GR), and glutathione (GSH) in the brain, liver, and kidney 19 . Tyrosine is used to synthesis protein.…”
