“…These high‐risk patients include those with a past history of esophageal SCC,25,26 those with head and neck cancer, heavy drinkers with flushing reaction after alcohol consumption related to ALDH2 hetero deficiency,27 and heavy smokers 28,29,30. SPC is commonly detected on either side of the pyriform sinus and posterior wall in the hypopharynx 12,31. It is especially important to educate inexperienced endoscopists on how to observe the pharynx32 and which part is most important to observe.…”

“…Enhanced detection of SPC occasionally enables treatment of SPC via endoscopic resection,5–7 endoscopic submucosal dissection (ESD), or endoscopic mucosal resection, which are established local resection techniques for superficial gastrointestinal cancers 8,9. We have reported favorable short‐term and long‐term treatment outcomes of ESD for SPC, which we think is important because ESD is a minimally invasive treatment technique that can preserve patients' functions, and consequently, their quality of life 10–12…”

“…However, these forceps interfere with the endoscope (Fig. 1a), and even grasping the lesion by forceps can be difficult in some cases 4 . Dental floss clip traction is one of the commonly used traction methods, but it is difficult to adjust the tractional direction.…”

“…1,2 Because superficial head and neck cancer previously could not be detected, diagnostic and treatment strategies have not yet been established and have become a new field of diagnosis and therapy.
