The result of non-individualized support programs were inconsistent, showing no effects on caregivers' self perception of ability to care nor on a delay in patients' admission (Brodaty, Roberts, & Peters, 1994;Goodman & Pynoos, 1990;Haley, 1989;Hébert, Leclerc, Bravo, Girouard, & Lefrançois, 1994), or showing a positive effect on the self-perception of caregiving ability (Chiverton & Caine, 1989;Kahan, Kemp, Staples, & Brummel-Smith, 1985).
