Efficacy of a self‐administered treatment using a smart tablet to improve functional vocabulary in post‐stroke aphasia: a case‐series study

Abstract: Background Aphasia is an acquired language disorder that occurs secondary to brain injury, such as stroke. It causes communication difficulties that have a significant impact on quality of life and social relationships. “…Diminishing cognitive abilities will necessarily result in a progressive reduction in the ability of residents to navigate SHT. Though self-administered treatments with tablets can be effective at helping residents recover from events like strokes (Lavoie et al, 2019), the technology must be used correctly. Granted, cognitive decline is part of the decision of when to transition a resident to nursing home care (Buhr et al, 2006), but governments wishing to obtain maximal benefits from SHT must consider the risks of technology and user failures prior to transition.…”
