“…There appears to be a consensus in the guidelines that it should be tried before committing the patient to radical surgery. A recent systematic review by Tutolo et al, highlighted only one study eligible for consideration according to their methodological criteria indicating the evidence in this field was poor and could not give a strong level of recommendation for SNM in treating BPS/IC. In this particular retrospective study which was included by Gajewski and Al‐Zahrani, 78 predominantly female patients were evaluated, all of whom had bladder pain and cystoscopic features of either glomerulations or Hunner's ulcers and had failed previous treatments including, pharmacotherapy, hydrodistension, and intravesical instillations.…”

“…A PTNS az alsó húgyúti tünetek befolyásolására alkalmazott, elfogadott, neuromodulációs terápia, amelynek során a sacralis idegfonatokat minimál invazív módon, a nervus tibialis posterioron keresztüli neurális úton lehet elérni (8). Az irodalmi adatokat áttekintve a kezelés hatásosabbnak bizonyult mind placebónál, mind antimuscarin gyógyszerekkel szemben.…”

“…There was also a statistically significant improvement in quality of life measures using the ICIQ-OABqol questionnaire. 17 A recent systematic review published in European Urology in 2018 18 included 21 studies with at least 20 patients with six months of follow-up for both SNS and PTNS. There is no available information on the percentage of male participants in these studies.…”
