Effects of Welding Heat Input on Microstructure and Electrochemical Behavior of Flux‐Cored Arc‐Welded Q690 HSLA Steel

Abstract: In this work, the weld metal (WM) for the Q690 high-strength low-alloy (HSLA) steel was prepared through flux-cored arc welding (FCAW) at 10 kJ/cm and 20 kJ/cm heat inputs. e effect of welding heat input on the relationship between the microstructural factors and the electrochemical behavior of the FCAW Q690 steel was studied. Due to the fine grain and acicular ferrite affected by the 10 kJ/cm low heat input, the WM presented similar electrochemical behavior to the Q690 base metal, which would minimize the ris… Show more

“…Despite the great practical significance of problems associated with the storage of welding consumables, this topic is relatively rarely discussed in the literature. Previous works mainly concerned the impact of wire construction and storage conditions on the diffusible hydrogen amount in weld metal [ 18 , 22 , 38 ] and the influence of welding parameters and conditions on the quality and properties of welded joints [ 20 , 39 , 40 , 41 , 42 ]. Accordingly, the purpose of the work was to analyze the impact of storage conditions of seamless, copper plated flux-cored wires on the plasticity of the bead-on-plate welds made with these wires.…”

“…Moreover, the high cost of measuring glass viscosity and the difficulty of measuring the range of low viscosity, restrict its real practice. To accurately fit the viscosity-temperature curve, researchers have taken great efforts to manage glass viscosity, through controlling each correlated contributor such as temperature [4,5], compositions [6,7], structure [8,9], thermal history [10,11], etc.…”

“…Arc welding using FCAW (Flux Cored Arc Welding) is a commonly used alternative to GMAW (Gas Metal Arc Welding) due to higher welding efficiency, penetration depth, better arc stability and relative ease of welding [1][2][3][4]. The area of its application includes, in particular, shipbuilding, construction and machine industry as well as regeneration of machine elements, technical devices, manufacturing and modification of surface layers [5][6][7][8].…”
