Effects of Sintered‐Metal Cone Length on Gas‐Cyclone Classification Performance

Abstract: The gas cyclone is a classic flow device commonly used in the separation of particles from a gaseous flow stream. The gas-cyclone classification performance is affected by the length of the porous sintered-metal cone. Three different lengths of porous sintered-metal cones were tested to evaluate the classification performance of a gas cyclone. Clean air was fed into the cyclone through the cone. The cone's particle cut size depended on the amount of clean air injected into the cone. In medium and long cones, a… Show more

“…At the same time, the implementation of this apparatus is constrained because there are no universal calculation procedures and the general theory of transfer processes in hydrocyclone classifiers is incomplete. The abovementioned circumstances are related to the complex behavior of dispersed particles in hydrocyclones , , especially in the field of the finest fractions, where random forces can have a defining value . It is currently impossible to describe it quantitatively by using only deterministic methods , .…”

“…Relation (11) not only establishes the correlation between coefficients c and k, characterizing the intensity of centrifugal forces and the classification effect, but also shows that the position of the mode abscissa x m,n as well as the position of mode abscissa x m in distribution (6) in the space of the dimensionless coordinate x do not depend on the intensity of random perturbations b.…”
