Dodge, 1994) 。この理論では，攻撃行動に至る認知プロセスを(a)手がかりの符号化， (b)解釈， (c)目標設定， (d)反応構築， (e)反応決定といった 5 つのステップとしてモデル化し，攻撃行動の原因を各ステップにおけるバイアスと仮定する。例えば(b)の解釈における問題は，曖昧な挑発状況において他者の行動に敵意を見出す敵意的帰属バイアス(Hostile Attribution Bias)として概念化されている。情報処理モデルが認知のプロセスに着目する理論であるのに対し，認知の内容的側面に関する研究では，攻撃行動と関連する認知のゆがみの内容に着目する。 Barriga & Gibbs(1996)によれば，攻撃を導く自己奉仕的な認知のゆがみは 2 つの次元に分類される。一次的な認知のゆがみ(cognitive distortion)は自己中心性であり，道徳発達の未成熟さの反映と考えられる。二次的な認知のゆがみは，一次的な認知のゆがみから生じる情動的なストレス(罪悪感や恥)から自己イメージを守るために用いられる。例えば攻撃による被害を実際より少なく見積もることなどが挙げられる。同様に認知の内容に着目した理論として，道徳的不活性化 (Moral Disengagement
