Effects of mobile-supported task-based language teaching on EFL students’ linguistic achievement and conversational interaction

Abstract: To address the challenges of limited language proficiency and provide necessary feedback in the implementation of task-based language teaching (TBLT), a mobile-supported TBLT application was developed to provide linguistic and task scaffolding. Sixty-six English as a foreign language (EFL) university learners participated in a three-week experiment as part of a general English course. They were assigned to either an experimental group (mobile-supported TBLT), which received TBLT with scaffolds built into the a… Show more

“…These findings are consistent with the assumption of the social constructivist theory that effective learning takes place when it involves communication, participation, and physical activities (Vygotsky, 1978). The findings of this study also concur with many previous studies on the effectiveness of task-based learning in developing English learners' speaking skills (Dewi et al, 2020;Fang et al, 2021;Nita & Rozimela, 2019;Omar et al, 2021;Sariannur, 2017). Task-based learning activities are conducted fascinatingly as learners communicate freely with instructors and peers.…”

“…is paper calculates the distance between English vocabulary data by calculating the Euclidean distance. In the English vocabulary system, the real distance between English vocabulary data in the n-dimensional space [23], the straight-line segment distance between vocabulary data in the system, is expressed as…”

“…Figure 12 suggests that there are significant differences in four dimensions in the paired sample t-test, including classroom progress anxiety (p = 0.000 < 0.05), classroom speaking anxiety (p = 0.000 < 0.05), evaluation anxiety (p = 0.017 < 0.05), and oral anxiety (p = 0.025 > 0.05). The above data once again proves that the HCI training system is an effective way to improve learners' learning motivation (Fang et al, 2021) and self-confidence.…”
