Effects of Graphene Monolayer Coating on the Optical Performance of Remote Phosphors

Abstract: A graphene monolayer has been successfully coated on one side of a bisphenol-A-polycarbonate (BPA-PC) plate, used as a substrate for remote phosphor applications in light-emitting diode (LED)-based products. Using a photoresist transferring method, graphene sheet has been coated on BPA-PC plates. The results show that this graphene monolayer significantly improves the lifetime and performance of LEDs mainly by protecting them against external degradation factors such as moisture and oxygen. Also, LED-based pro… Show more

“…In order to study the effect of blue light radiation, the high accelerated stress test (HAST, TU-Delft, Delft, The Netherlands) set-up was used to accelerate the aging test up to 10 times [25]. In order to analyze the effect of UV radiation, the UNICORN UV chamber (TU-Delft, Delft, The Netherlands) at room temperature was used.…”

“…Most of the previously done accelerated aging tests are in fact indoor aging tests [3,21,22,23,24,25,26], with temperature and light intensity being most widely used accelerating factors [24,25]. We showed in one of our previous studies that a highly accelerated test set-up (HAST), with 20 times faster kinetics of degradation, can be developed to study the reliability and degradation of LED-based products, using simultaneous temperature and light radiation [25]. Application of combined stresses to do accelerated degradation tests has been reported by Davis et al, in which they applied temperature and humidity at the same time to understand luminaire depreciation [27].…”

“…Light converting phosphors have a significant contribution in many photonic and optoelectronic devices and components [1][2][3][4][5]. Amongst different phosphors, yttrium aluminum garnets (Y 3 Al 5 O 12 : YAG), doped with rare-earth elements, i.e., Ce 3+ , are considered as one of the most widely used photonic materials [6] YAG:Ce phosphors have unique optical properties, making them excellent choices for different applications, ranging from lasers to solid state lighting sources [7][8][9][10]. This includes cathode-ray tubes (CRT), field emission displays (FED), scintillators, plasma display panels (PDP), electroluminescent displays, and light emitting diodes (LED).…”
