Effects of curcumin on antioxidant capacity and gastric mucosal injury following strenuous endurance training in rats

Abstract: Strenuous endurance training (SET) in endurance athletes can cause gastrointestinal problems, such as gastritis. Gastritis is associated with increased oxidative stress and an imbalance between free-radical production and antioxidant defences. The present study investigated the effects of SET and curcumin injection on systemic total antioxidant capacity (TAC), gastric mucosal injury and lipid peroxidation (malondialdehyde – MDA) in male rats. Twenty-six male Wistar rats were randomly divided into four groups i… Show more

“…After the observation, select the most severely injured part of the gastric mucosa, fix it with 10% neutral formalin, wash with water, dehydrate transparently, immerse in wax, trim the wax block, slice continuously at a thickness of 5 μm, and deparaffinize to water. After H&E staining, the pathological changes of rat stomach tissues were observed under microscope (Gorzi et al, 2021; Ou et al, 2020; Zongdan et al, 2021).…”
