“…Although there are some equilibrium-based ASPEN Plus models for EFGs [2e10], there are very few studies on the detailed kineticsbased ASPEN Plus model development [11e13, 16,17] in the literature. Some of the very few kinetics-based ASPEN Plus model for gasification includes the work of Wen and Chaung [11] who developed a single-step pyrolysis model with rate expressions for the reaction of char with CO 2 , O 2 and H 2 and a global rate for gaseous equilibrium.…”

“…Their study was validated with the gasification studies for the three Australian coals, CRC252, CRC274, and CRC299 [15]. Lee et al [16] also investigated the effects of different burner types and oxygen gas supply angle of the burner on the gas composition, carbon conversion and gasifier temperature of a bench-scale entrained flow gasifier in ASPEN Plus. They validated their model with the experimental data from the 1-ton-per-day oxygen-blown Korea Electronic Power Corporation (KEPCO) research institute gasifier.…”

“…Future plants will be hybrid power/chemical plants with gasification as the key unit operation; as a consequence, the thermochemical process has been emerging as the premier unit operation in the energy and chemical industries. Therefore, the gasification continues to be an important topic to research [3,6,7].…”

“…To make FOA more universal for the continuous optimization problems, espe- 27 cially for those problems with optimal solutions that are not zero. This paper proposes an improved fruit 28 fly optimization algorithm based on differential evolution (DFOA) by modifying the expression of the 29 smell concentration judgment value and by introducing a differential vector to replace the stochastic 30 search. Through numerical experiments based on 12 benchmark instances, experimental results show 31 that the improved DFOA has a stronger global search ability, faster convergence, and convergence stabil-32 ity in high-dimensional functions than the original FOA and evolutionary algorithms from literature.…”

“…This software has been used for gasification systems based 499 on a minimization of the Gibbs free energy at equilibrium[28]. The 500 simulation is developed under the assumption that the residence 501 time is long enough to allow the chemical reactions to reach equi-502 librium state and that the carbon conversion is an initial variable.503 Meanwhile, the model does not consider the effect of gasifier struc-504 ture and does not provide the distribution of each variable in the 505 gasifier.…”
