“…It has been reported that terbutryn is able to induce EROD activity in rainbow trout (Tarja et al, 2003). Dong et al (2009) reported that P450 content in zebrafish (Danio rerio) (both male and female) was induced by atrazine, even at a dose of 0.01 mg/L. Exposure to terbutryn and simazine did not influence CYP concentration or EROD, GST, or GSH activity, suggesting that a role for CYP450 1A in the metabolism of terbutryn and simazine in common carp can be ruled out.…”

“…It is worthy of note that atrazine can affect the liver antioxidant status and thus, retinoid isomerization (Singh et al 2011). Induction of NADPH cytochrome P450 reductase has been observed in adult zebra fish exposed to atrazine (Dong et al 2009) and in newt exposed to MCPA (4-chloro-2-methylphenoxy acetic acid) (Santagostino et al 1989). In the case of newt, low doses of MCPA increased glutathion-S-transferases, enzymes both implicated in the metabolism and the isomerization of RA.…”

“…The zebrafish (D. rerio) is a small equatorial freshwater fish that has a great tolerance for a wide range of breeding circumstances has been employed as an experimental species in the intensive studies of many other scientists, from the 1980s. Particularly in recent years, numerous studies have shown the identified benefits of hiring of zebrafish in environmental toxicological studies [3]. The use of herbicides to control weeds has been admitted, and its frequent applications as a part of farming practices worldwide.…”

“…Sublethal impacts with biochemical changes of fish tissues may occur with long term exposure to levels of lowest from 2 mg L −1 of atrazine [4]. Several writers have mentioned the effect of atrazine on the physiology, metabolism, growth and reproduction of aquatic organisms, special on fishes [8] and also can cause impaired embryonic growth [3]. Hence, it is necessary to identify certain parameters used in the assessment of environmental hazards of pesticides, as the degree of accumulation and stress biomarkers of atrazine in aquatic objects.…”
