Cowpea aphid-borne mosaic virus (CABMV) causes passion fruit woodiness disease, which considerably reduces the lifespan and fruit production of passion fruit (Passiflora edulis; Passifloraceae) in Brazil (Fischer & Rezende, 2021). CABMV infection results in economic loss at the farmer and the national level as Brazil is the world's largest producer of passion fruit. In 2020, 46,436 ha of land was planted with passion fruit in Brazil, resulting in a yield of 690,364 tonnes and an average productivity of 14.87 t/ha (IBGE, 2022).Cowpea aphid-borne mosaic virus belongs to the genus Potyvirus, which includes several viruses that cause economically important diseases in various crops. The virus particles are flexuous and filamentous, approximately 680-900 nm, and have a genome
