Effectiveness of SCRUM in Project Based Learning: Students View

Abstract: Project and team management play a major role in the student teams´ projects performance. This is more evident when the projects last long time and the teams are large. In this work a student team accepted to use SCRUM as their project management methodology during their Project Based Learning (PjBL) experience. This PjBL experience took place on the 7 th semester of the Integrated Master in Industrial Engineering and Management degree. “…Based on the above research, it can be understood that TL-Scrum is a new teaching in which students work together to complete tasks, stimulate students' interest in learning, promote the development of students' overall ability, and it is a kind of active collaborative learning (Delhij et al, 2015). The purpose of this study was to try to integrate TL-Scrum into the lower-secondary school physics class by selecting "Physics in Bicycles" as the teaching material, implementing and designing the teaching.…”

“…We think that Scrum may be used by students as an engaging and self-organizing way to work collaboratively and dynamically, and this may improve mutual collaboration and reflection among students and teacher. Experiences of students during project-based learning are described by Dinis-Carvalho et al (2018) which showed that students recognized the advantages of the Scrum methodology and scored above average compared to students using regular teaching approaches.…”
