Abstract: The behavioural and psychological symptoms of dementia (BPSD) reduce social participation and continuous concentration and result in emotional distance and slower reactions in affected patients (Boyle & Malloy, 2004). “…While some intergenerational studies have included people with dementia and children ( Lu et al, 2022 ), more evidence is needed to inform residential aged care providers and co-located childcare services, on how to develop intergenerational programs for people with dementia and children under the age of 6 before they start attending formal schooling, and what elements make these programs successful ( Gerritzen et al, 2020 ; Kirsnan et al, 2023 ).
