Academic stress and parental anxiety are two crucial factors for the academic achievements of students. Both of these factors play a key role in academic success. This research aims to find the relationship between parental anxiety and students’ academic stress at the secondary level. The population was selected from the students of grade 9th studying in various public schools of Tehsil Gujrat. A two-stage Stratified Random Sampling Technique was used for sampling. Out of a total of 89 boys and 94 girls secondary schoolers working at Tehsil Gujrat, twenty (10 boys and 10 girls) were randomly selected. Simple percentage formula, Regression, neural network model, and Independent sample t-test were used to analyze the collected data. The analysis of students related to research questions indicated that academic stress affects academic achievements, parents’ anxiety, mental health, learning process, social behavior, cognitive skills, learning style, communication between the teachers and students, and extra-curricular activities of the students.

Background: Depression in adolescents is a multifactorial global public health concern, with devastating consequences on the sufferer. The prevalence of depression amongst this age group is on the rise, and thus there is the need for greater attention.Aim: To explore and describe the perceptions of mental health nurses regarding the psychosocial management of depression in adolescents in North West province, South Africa.Setting: The study was conducted in two mental healthcare institutions and two mental healthcare units within two general hospitals in North West province, South Africa.Method: A qualitative, explorative, descriptive and contextual research design was used in conducting this study. Data were collected through focus group discussions from four groups of mental health nurses from each of the mental healthcare institutions and mental healthcare units with 18 mental health nurses. Data were analysed using Tesch’s open coding method. Results: Two themes emerged from the study: comprehensive psychosocial management and involvement of different stakeholders. Conclusion: The findings revealed clear psychosocial management for depression in adolescents. Adopting the findings of this study could improve depressive symptoms and curtail the prevalence of depression amongst adolescents in the North West province, South Africa.

Objective : This study was undertaken to assess the effectiveness of educational package regarding knowledge of Somatic symptom disorders among adolescent girls. Methods : 75 adolescent girls were selected by using non probability convenient sampling technique. The data was collected by using a reliable and validated tool to assess the knowledge regarding Somatic symptom disorders. Results : The quantitative assessment of knowledge regarding Somatic Symptom Disorders revealed that after administration of educational package, 56 (74.67%) adolescent girls had average knowledge and 19 (25.33%) adolescent girls had adequate level of knowledge. There was significant difference between knowledge in pre testand post test after administration of educational package. Also, thepost test knowledge was statistically associated with educational level of father of adolescent girls (0.043), educational level of mother of adolescent girls (0.046) and occupation of mother of adolescent girls (0.003). The study revealed that, the pretest mean score value of knowledge was 9.52 with standard deviation (SD) of 2.21 and the post-test mean score value of knowledge was17.00 with SD of 4.01 with a mean difference of 7.48.The calculated-t value was 13.87. This indicated that there was a high statistical significant difference in the pre and post test knowledge level regarding Somatic symptom disorders among adolescent girls, p value 0.05.
Conclusion:Results of this research generates evidence that educational package regarding knowledge of Somatic symptom disorders among adolescent girls was effective.
