“…Treatment with acupuncture elicited a significant decline in the five subscales mean scores of the BPI-SF compared with control (13,15,33,37,45), and the meta-analyses results were presented in Figure 2A. In addition, the severity of pain in the acupuncture group also decreased significantly when compared with the control group as determined using the VAS measures (SMD -0.83, 95%CI, -1.16 to -0.51, P<0.00001, I 2 = 0) (Figure 2B) (10,29,34).…”

“…As a consequence, the postoperative pain score was < 4 on day 1, and there was no significant difference between the two groups; it gradually decreased to < 3 on days 2 and 3. Several studies have proved that acupuncture or EA reduces pain in patients undergoing thoracic[ 28 ], abdominal[ 6 ], inguinal hernia surgery[ 29 ], breast cancer[ 30 ], or kidney[ 31 ] surgery. The postoperative patients in our study had less pain because of PCEA or PCIA, most of the patients tolerated pain well, they could even sit up and stand on the morning of day 1 after operation, thus the pain-control availability of TEA was not validated.…”
