Effective Hybrid Algorithm of Taguchi Method, FEM, RSM, and Teaching Learning-Based Optimization for Multiobjective Optimization Design of a Compliant Rotary Positioning Stage for Nanoindentation Tester

Abstract: This paper proposes an effective hybrid optimization algorithm for multiobjective optimization design of a compliant rotary positioning stage for indentation tester. The stage is created with respect to the Beetle’s profile. To meet practical demands of the stage, the geometric parameters are optimized so as to find the best performances. In the present work, the Taguchi method is employed to lay out the number of numerical experiments. Subsequently, the finite element method is built to retrieve the numerical… Show more

“…28,29 Further, the Taguchi's orthogonal array scheme has been used successfully by the previous researchers to design experiments for RSM. 27,[30][31][32][33][34] Thus, in this study, a total sixteen number of experiments are considered and conducted on the basis of Taguchi's L16 orthogonal array layout. The experimental results of MRR and SR along with the corresponding machining parameter settings are displayed in Table 2.…”

“…Flexure-based compliant mechanisms can provide a preload and restoring force through elastic deformation, rendering piezoelectric stacks suitable for generating reciprocating motions in flow control valves. 31,32 Many previous efforts in this field have focused on designing plenty of flow control valves by replacing traditional solenoids and torque motors with piezoelectric actuators or their amplified alternatives. Some efforts were also put into reducing the flow force and avoiding the energy loss in flow valves.…”
