Effect of Zirconium Oxide Nanofiller and Dibutyl Phthalate Plasticizer on Ionic Conductivity and Optical Properties of Solid Polymer Electrolyte

Abstract: New solid polymer electrolytes (SPE) based on poly(ethylene oxide) (PEO) doped with lithium trifluoromethanesulfonate (LiCF3SO3), dibutyl phthalate (DBP) plasticizer, and zirconium oxide (ZrO2) nanoparticles were prepared by solution-casting technique. The conductivity was enhanced by addition of dibutyl phthalate (DBP) plasticizer and ZrO2 nanofiller with maximum conductivity (1.38 × 10−4 Scm−1). The absorption edge and band gap values showed decreases upon addition of LiSO3CF3, DBP, and ZrO2 due to the forma… Show more

“…Where I i and I t are the intensity of the incident and transmitted light, respectively; A is the absorbance; and d is the film thickness. Figure shows the absorption coefficient spectra of different concentrations of CdSe/ZnS/PVC nanocomposites in which an absorption band at λ ≈ 280 nm is observed, which is assigned to π–π* transition as a promotion of electrons from pi bonding orbital to pi anti‐bonding orbital of pure PVC . In addition, the intensity of this absorption band has increased and has a blue shift at λ ≈ 272 ± 7 nm as the concentration of CdSe/ZnS increases.…”

“…Nanoparticles (NPs) are materials ranging in size from 1–100 nm, with unique properties compared to bulk materials [ 1 ]. Their higher surface-area-to-volume ratio is a very important unique property that allows them to be used in different fields of chemical, food, electronic, and healthcare industries [ 2 , 3 , 4 ]. There are various physical, chemical, and biological approaches to synthesizing NPs ( Figure 1 ).…”

“…The spectra consist of spikes with different inclination for different composition of lithium iodide (LiI). Normally, the spike at higher frequencies can be attributed to grain boundary effect while the semicircle arc at lower frequencies was probably caused by the resistance within the bulk/grain of the studied material [5,6]. The grain boundaries act as barriers towards mobile ions.…”
