Effect of X-ray irradiation on hepatocarcinoma cells and erythrocytes in salvaged blood

Abstract: The broad clinical acceptance of intraoperative blood salvage and its applications in cancer surgery remain controversial. Until now, a method that can safely eliminate cancer cells while preserving erythrocytes does not exist. Here, we investigated whether X-ray generated from linear accelerator irradiation at a certain dose can kill hepatocarcinoma cells while preserving erythrocytes. HepG2, SK-Hep1 or Huh7 cells were mixed into the aliquots of erythrocytes obtained from healthy volunteers. After the mixed c… Show more

“…3 and using the energy difference shown in Table I is 3.01 meV, which is much smaller than that of other predicted 2D magnets such as Co 2 S 2 with the J 1 of 58.7 meV. 38 Strain engineering has been widely used to tune the structural and electrical properties of single-layer materials, offering an important degree of flexibility. [39][40][41] We apply in-plane biaxial strains ( aa = bb ) to singlelayer pentagonal CoS 2 .…”

“…Here, the superexchange mechanism contributes to the magnetism. Furthermore, ferromagnetism has also been predicted in several other materials (denoted by OM in Table 1) including materials such as MnO 2 , FeC 2 etc [60][61][62][63][64][65][66][67][68][69][70][71] . It is also important to mention here that Mounet and co-workers have also theoretically identified a group of ferromagnetic metals and semiconductors using data-mining algorithms and advanced, high-throughput electronic structure theory 72 .…”

“…A prominent example here is a chimera state in a one-or two-dimensional oscillatory medium with long-range interactions [28]. A population of oscillators driven by two mean fields [29] also demonstrated nontrivial regimes with a coexistence of ordered and disordered subpopulations. Indeed, chimera states are defined as the coexistence of coherent and noncoherent domains among identical oscillators, and finitesize fluctuations [30] may lead to cross-correlations in the disordered domain; this issue is currently under consideration.…”
