Comparison of Antifungal Activity of White-Colored and Gray-Colored Mineral Trioxide Aggregate (MTA) at Similar Concentrations Against Candida albicans

“…Al-Hezaimi et al (27) compared the sealing ability of the two types of MTA preparations, used as orthograde root canal fillings against human saliva penetration, and found no difference in leakage between white-colored and gray-colored MTA (27). Regarding the antifungal action of MTA, a recent study, using the agar diffusion test, showed that white-colored MTA in concentration of 50 mg/ml had a good killing action against C. albicans for periods of up to 3 days (24). Concentration of 25 mg/ml had antifungal activity only at 1 and 24-h time periods and lower concentrations had no antifungal activity (24).…”
