Effect of Weed Management Practices on Weed Growth and Yield of Greengram (Vigna radiata (L.) Wilczek) in Southern Rajasthan

Abstract: A Field experiment was conducted at Agronomy instructional Farm, Rajasthan College of Agriculture, MPUAT, Udaipur (Rajasthan) during 2016-17 to find out the impact of new generation herbicides in green gram.  The results revealed that all growth and yield characters of blackgram were significantly affected by distinct weed control practices. A similar trend was also observed in weed parameters. Higher seed yield (13.8 qha-1) and higher weed control efficiency (88.97%) were recorded under application of acifluo… Show more

“…Unweeded control (T 1 ) recorded the significantly least number of branches (12.37, 20.13 and 29.87) at 30, 60 and at harvest respectively. When compared to an unweeded control, the use of herbicides and hand weeding greatly improved the growth components because there was less weed density and growth, which gave the groundnut plant plenty of room, light, and nutrients for root growth, nodulation, the ideal extension of leaves and branches, and the dry weight of crop as suggested by (Verma and Choudhary, 2020) [13] . Under unweeded control, significantly lower values of plant height were observed.…”

“…Presently, imazethapyr is a very effective post emergence herbicide for controlling broad leaf and some grassy weeds in blackgram. But its efficacy has not been tested in combination with other herbicides for wide spectrum weed control in blackgram verma et al [5]. Keeping in view the above facts, the present experiment was undertaken to find out Effect of nitrogen and weed management practices on growth and yield of Blackgram (Vigna mungo L.).…”
