“…As porous cementitious materials, pores and cracks in cement paste and mortar specimens are extraordinarily important when considering the steel corrosion. Gu et al [2] studied the effect of uneven porosity distribution on steel corrosion, and concluded that oxygen depletion (cathodic reaction of steel corrosion) was relevant to the pore distribution. Also Claisse et al [3] performed the measurements to concrete samples blended with silica fume using porosity as a predictor of durability and confirmed that the porosity was a super predictor of transport properties of concrete but relatively not that good for steel corrosion.…”
