“…Our results show that TQ inhibits the expression of COX-2, MMP-9, cyclin D1, VEGF, and c-Myc, all regulated by NF-nB. These results are in agreement with previous reports that TQ can suppress COX-2 expression both in vitro and in a mouse model of allergic airway inflammation (21,67). NF-nB activation has been shown to mediate the suppression of apoptosis through the expression of several antiapoptotic gene products.…”

“…TQ has also been reported to enhance antitumor activity of ifosfamide in Ehrlich ascites carcinoma -bearing mice (8), prevent cisplatin-induced nephrotoxicity in mice and rats (19), ameliorate benzo(a)pyrene-induced forestomach carcinogenesis (20), inhibit cyclooxygenase 2 (COX-2) expression and prostaglandin production in a mouse model of allergic airway inflammation (21), and protect against doxorubicin-induced cardiotoxicity in mice (22). How TQ manifests these activities is not fully understood, but it has been shown to down-regulate the expression of Bcl-x L (11), COX-2 (21), iNOS (23), 5-lipooxygenase (24), TNF (25), and cyclin D1 (26), all known to be regulated by nuclear factor-nB (NF-nB).…”

“…TQ exhibit a slight inhibitory effect on COX-1 expression and PGE2 production in a mouse model of allergic airway inflammation. This finding suggests that TQ has an anti-inflammatory effect during the allergic response in the lung through the inhibition of PGD 2 synthesis and Th2-driven immune response [71] . The antioxidant, antiinflammatory, anticancer and antibacterial activities of the shoots, roots and seeds methanol extracts from N. sativa were studied.…”

“…Improvement in associated allergic symptoms of conjunctivitis, asthma, and urticaria in active groups was more than that of control groups revealed clearly the multiple anti allergic actions of N. sativa extract. This may be due to augmentation of PMN function induced by N. sativa seed oil (16,39) , antihistaminic activity (40) , antioxidant activity (43) , inhibition of prostaglandin production (44) and antiiflamatory activity (45) . Factors associated with poor response to systemic NS treatment include: a) Multiple allergic disorders which may need more dose because the multiple allergic disease especially asthma are more complicated in mechanism than allergic rhinitis and the patients usually have bronchial hyper reactivity.…”
