Effect of thermal elastohydrodynamic lubrication on vibration characteristics of ball bearing with local defect

Abstract: The vibration response of ball bearing with local defect is closely associated with its lubrication condition. The previous bearing dynamic models were mainly established based on the idealised lubrication conditions, which may not uncover the influence of thermal effect of lubricant on vibration characteristics of defective bearing. This paper presented the influence of thermal effect on elastohydrodynamic lubrication (EHL) performances of ball bearing and the vibration characteristics of defective bearing un… Show more

“…The inner raceway is used as an example because the thermal effect of the inner raceway is more pronounced than that of the outer raceway. 39 Table 2 details the experimental working circumstances while Table 4 describes the physical properties of the lubricant. Figure 17 displays the obtained outcomes.…”

“…A detailed description of the modelling process of the TEHL model can be found in a previous study by our research team. 39 During bearing operation, a lubricant film forms between the ball and the raceway. Thermal effects have a massive impact on the elastohydrodynamic lubrication performance of the oil film.…”

“…Wang et al 23 improved a vibration model of REB by using an iterative method to solve the contact deformation between the raceway and RE, and analysed the influence of the load, rotor eccentricity and waviness on vibration characteristics of REB. Wang et al 24 researched the impact of thermal EHL condition on the vibration characteristics of REB.…”

“…For example, Xia [15] studied the tribological behavior and vibration characteristics of full ceramic ball bearings under extreme working conditions such as cryogenics, heavy load, and oil-free lubrication. Wang [16] studied the influence of the thermal effect on the elastohydrodynamic lubrication performances of ball bearings and the vibration characteristics of bearings with defects under thermal elastohydrodynamic lubrication. Accordingly, the former analysis is basically carried out under single working conditions.…”
