“…This phenomenon demonstrates that the incorporation of zinc nitrate with a higher concentration (as compared to 10 −4 M) into the NaCl solution can rapidly produce the healing effect. Beyond 10 −4 M, for the samples immersed in the solution doped with 5 × 10 −3 and 10 −2 M zinc nitrate, marked "d" and "e", OCP were initially higher but the strong fluctuations with oscillations of around 50 mV/SCE could be observed in all stages of immersion indicating susceptibility of these coating systems to pitting corrosion [25]. These phenomena showed that addition of higher concentration of zinc nitrate (as compared to 10 −3 M) would demonstrate a negative effect on inhibiting the corrosion of this coating system.…”

“…These preliminary results can serve as a strong foundation for use of vanadate for moderately high temperature corrosion inhibition. However, due to the extensive successful use of chromate as a corrosion inhibitor over many decades and under a wide variety of conditions, [52][53][54] the challenge of replacing chromate under high temperature conditions will require a considerable extension of this work.…”
