Effect of temperature on the mass and color stability of additional photoinitiatorcontaining composite resins

Abstract: The purpose of this study was to evaluate how the temperature affects the stability of polymerized additional photoinitiator-containing composite resins. Five resin products were light-cured using a quartz-tungsten-halogen, and single and dual emission peaks lightemitting diodes. The degree of conversion (DC) and water sorption, solubility, and color change of the specimens were evaluated after immersion in the solutions of different temperatures (4, 37, and 60ºC) for 14 days. On the top surface, the light-cur… Show more

“…Furthermore, physiomechanical characteristics of the tested materials like water absorption, solubility and Martens hardness (HM) must also be considered. Another studies observed no correlations between these properties and the tendency to discoloration [46,47]. PEEK showed the lowest water absorption, solubility and HM values as compared to PMMA-based and composite resin materials.…”

“…One reason for this could be the increase in water absorption of the luting composite with rising temperatures, which is accompanied by swelling. However, the possibility of further polymerization caused by the application of heat and the greater stable cross-linking as a result is also being discussed [ 31 ].…”
