Effect of supplementary irrigation on rice yield in dry land during rainy season

Abstract: Climate change causes change in rainfall patterns, which will affect water availability. Water is a limiting factor for rice production on dry land. Increasing rice yields on dry land requires precise water management. This study aimed to investigate the effect of supplementary irrigation when it does not rain on rice yields in dry land during rainy season. The research was conducted on dry land in Playen, Gunung Kidul, Daerah Istimewa Yogyakarta, Indonesia during rainy season of November 2020 to February 2021… Show more

“…The choice of conservation technique adjusts to rainfall, topography, soil type, and socio economic factors of the farmer [42]. Water management practices such as a simple dam construction [43], well construction, groundwater harvesting [44] and cropping pattern [45]. Organic fertilization increases soil carbon content [46], soil fertility [47] and supporting the agricultural sustainability [48].…”

“…Secara khusus, Hornbeck dan Keskin (2015) menyebutkan bahwa pengelolaan air harus menguntungkan secara ekonomi. Pengelolaan air untuk irigasi tanaman menguntungkan lingkungan dari sisi peningkatan serapan karbon dari udara (Anshori et al, 2021c;Viandari dan Anshori, 2021). Pemanfaatan air tanah untuk irigasi lahan kering di musim kemarau terkait erat dengan aspek ekonomi, sosial dan lingkungan.…”

“…Lack of water will reduce crop production (Adunya and Benti, 2020). Water shortages can be met by irrigation from rainwater harvesting (Anshori et al, 2021a) or groundwater sources (Anshori et al, 2021b). Dryland has excellent potential for development (Indrawan et al, 2020) and proper management will support agricultural progress (Viandari et al, 2022).…”
