Effect of Split Application of Nitrogen Fertilizer on Morpho-Physiological Attributes and Grain Yield of Broadcast Seeded Egyptian Hybrid Rice (Ι)

Abstract: An experiment was carried out at the Experimental Farm of Rice Research and Training Center (RRTC), Sakha, Kafr El-Sheikh, Egypt, during 2011 and 2012 seasons. The experiment was laid out in a split plot design with four replications. The main plots were devoted to the nitrogen level 220kg N/ha in form of urea (46.5% N). The sub-plots were allocated to the six times of nitrogen application to assess the effect of six nitrogen application treatments, viz., T_1: (2⁄(3 ) as B ( basal ) + 1⁄3 at PI ( panicle initi… Show more

“…The same trend was recorded by Xu et al [54] in rice plants. The importance of nitrogen, phosphorus, and potassium for plant production was studied by some researchers in several economic crops such as rice [55,56], maize [57,58], wheat [59,60], and sugar beet [61].…”

“…Rice (Oryza sativa L.) is a globally important crop that is a member of the Poaceae family. Due to the significance of rice grain production in breeding programs, numerous studies have been conducted to enhance rice yield under normal and stressful conditions (Elkhoby et al, 2013;Abd El-Lattef et al, 2014;El-Hity et al, 2020;Hafez et al, 2020;Mohamed et al, 2021). More than half of the world's population, especially in lowand middle-income countries, depends on rice for calories and protein.…”

“…Besides other factors (e.g., rice establishment methods), N application plays an imperative role in maintaining rice yields and acts as a crop growth determining factor (Andrews et al 2013). Moreover, timing and rate of N fertilizer are the most critical factors in determining crop yield and N efficiency (ElKhoby et al 2013) because synchronization of an adequate supply of N to crop demand resulted in its efficient utilization (Rehman et al 2013).…”
