“…As presented in Fig. , the corrosion potential of TiN‐Ni‐Co13‐P coating is more anodic than TiN‐free Ni‐Co‐P coatings and the corrosion current density of TiN‐Ni‐Co13‐P coating is more negative than TiN‐free Ni‐Co‐P coatings, which indicating that coating with nanoparticles shows better corrosion resistance, and the reason has been discussed in our previous work . Thus, the above‐mentioned verdicts show that the Ni‐Co‐P/TiN nanocomposite coatings offer excellent corrosion protection for the aluminum alloy.…”

“…, with increasing content of Co in the coatings the passivation behavior became less obvious, which may be related to decrease of the P content in the coatings. As we know, in the Ni‐based coatings, P content has the obvious effect on the surface passivation because when Ni is dissolved preferentially the film of adsorbed hypophosphite anions forms and acts as a barrier between electrode surface and water to prevent the further hydration of nickel . However, in this work, it is found from the corrosion potential and the corrosion current density that the contribution to the corrosion resistance from the passivation is not obvious, and the decrease of grain size has the primarily influence on the corrosion resistance.…”

“…These properties opened the field for NiP to be used in different industries [2]. However, to improve these properties, the incorporation of nanoparticles in the NiP matrix has been tried extensively recently [3][4][5][6][7][8]. The performance of the co-deposition of hard second-phase nanoparticles such as Al 2 O 3 , TiN, B 4 C, ZrO 2 , SiC, TiO 2 , CNT, graphite, and diamond [9][10][11][12][13][14][15][16][17] with the Ni-P matrix was investigated, and has shown an enhancement in terms of microhardness, as well as corrosion and wear resistances.…”
