“…Among weedicide application of pretilachlor @ 1 kg/ha + bispyribac sodium @ 25 g/harecorded maximum harvest index (34.56%) and lowest weed index (2.58%) compared to weedy check. Chauhan et al 2014 reported that application of pretilachlor resulted in a significant increase in grain yield compared with non treated control.…”

“…Similarly, moisture regime is an important parameter that affects pretilachlor degradation in agricultural soils. Pretilachlor was found to be highly effective herbicide in saturated soil conditions (Chauhan et al, 2014); however, rapid degradation in soil was observed under the flooded conditions (anaerobic conditions) as compared to the wetted conditions (aerobic conditions) (Moon et al, 1988). A study on three soil series, namely, Selangor, Sabrang, and Bernam series, showed that degradation of the herbicide in soils with higher moisture levels was high (Ismail & Handah, 1999).…”

“…The fenclorim seed treatment rate of 2.5 g ai kg −1 of seed was derived from the maximum use rate of pretilachlor and fenclorim of 450 and 225 g ai ha −1 , respectively (Chauhan et al 2014;Quadranti and Ebner 1983). With an inbred rice cultivar planting rate of 90 kg of seed ha −1 , the amount of fenclorim per hectare is equivalent to the foliar use rate.…”

“…Fenclorim was developed by the Ciba-Geigy company in the 1980s and released as a mixture with pretilachlor, another chloroacetamide herbicide similar to acetochlor (Quadranti and Ebner 1983). Pretilachlor has been widely used to control weeds in rice production systems in Asia when fenclorim is used in conjunction with the herbicide to mitigate injury (Chauhan et al 2014;Chen et al 2013). Fenclorim mitigates rice injury from pretilachlor by reduced total uptake and improved degradation of the herbicide (Scarponi et al 2003).…”
