Fertilization through the addition of nano-fertilizers, added in very small quantities as a foliar spray on the vine canopy, has become one of the most effective methods in order to reduce the amount of mineral fertilizers. Therefore, this experiment was conducted on a 7 year-old "Crimson seedless" grapevines for successive seasons 2021 and 2022 to determine the optimum rates of "Nano-NPK" fertilizer to replace the "NPK" conventional fertilizer. Three concentrations of "Nano-NPK" were used as foliar application in three concentrations, 30, 200 ppm), Nano-NPK (400, 60, 400 ppm) and Nano-NPK (800,120, 800 ppm) replacing 50% of conventional fertilizer NPK compared to the soil addition of the conventional fertilizer NPK at (25, 25, 100 kg/Feddan) as a control. Our results showed that Nano-NPK fertilizer at (800, 120, 800 ppm) induced a significant increase in yield parameters, along with the chemical and physical characteristics of the vegetative growth as compared with the lower concentrations but there are no significant differences between it and the control. Thus, application of Nano-fertilizers was very effective in accelerating the clusters growth stages along with replacing the mineral fertilizers

A field experiment consisting of bunch stalk feeding with different treatments on yield of banana cv. Grand Naine (G9) was conducted during 2022 in Ratnanagar-12, Jamunapur of Chitwan, Nepal. The experiment was laid in Random Complete Block Design (RCBD) with 7 treatments and 3 replications. Bunch fed with dipping the cut end in the combination of 500gm cow dung + 10g urea + 20g SOP + 15mg of GA3 + 100ml water resulted significantly higher finger length (20.36 cm), finger weight (0.18kg), finger diameter (36.28mm, bunch length (101.90 cm), bunch weight (32.37 kg), peel weight (19.05 g). and pulp weight (82.39 g) compared with control (without bunch stalk feeding). Thus, the research shows that the bunch feeding with 500gm cow dung, 10g urea, 20g SOP and 15mg of GA3 improves yield parameters of banana cv. Grand Naine. Int. J. Appl. Sci. Biotechnol. Ethylene-induced potassium transporter AcKUP2 gene is involved in kiwifruit postharvest ripening

Background Potassium (K) is important in the regulation of plant growth and development. It is the most abundant mineral element in kiwifruit, and its content increases during fruit ripening. However, how K+ transporter works in kiwifruit postharvest maturation is not yet clear. Results Here, 12 K+ transporter KT/HAK/KUP genes, AcKUP1 ~ AcKUP12, were isolated from kiwifruit, and their phylogeny, genomic structure, chromosomal location, protein properties, conserved motifs and cis-acting elements were analysed. Transcription analysis revealed that AcKUP2 expression increased rapidly and was maintained at a high level during postharvest maturation, consistent with the trend of K content; AcKUP2 expression was induced by ethylene, suggesting that AcKUP2 might play a role in ripening. Fluorescence microscopy showed that AcKUP2 is localised in the plasma membrane. Cis-elements, including DER or ethylene response element (ERE) responsive to ethylene, were found in the AcKUP2 promoter sequence, and ethylene significantly enhanced the AcKUP2 promoter activity. Furthermore, we verified that AcERF15, an ethylene response factor, directly binds to the AcKUP2 promoter to promote its expression. Thus, AcKUP2 may be an important potassium transporter gene which involved in ethylene-regulated kiwifruit postharvest ripening. Conclusions Therefore, our study establishes the first genome-wide analysis of the kiwifruit KT/HAK/KUP gene family and provides valuable information for understanding the function of the KT/HAK/KUP genes in kiwifruit postharvest ripening.
