Effect of Outflow Volume of Pressure Medium on Fluid-Lubrication Effect during Sheet Hydroforming

Abstract: The effect of the outflow volume of the pressure medium on the fluid-lubrication effect during the sheet hydroforming was investigated experimentally. The hydraulic pressures in the flange area obtained for the sheet hydroforming during which the hydraulic pressure was pressurized using pump were higher than those of the sheet hydroforming during which the pump was not utilized. This might be owing to the difference in the outflow volume of the pressure medium. On the other hand, the drawability of the sheet w… Show more

“…Currently, the researcher on the HMDD process mostly focus on the effects of process parameters at ambient temperature. Hama et al [14] experimentally investigated the effect of the outflow volume of the pressure medium on the fluidlubrication effect during the sheet hydroforming and concluded that the fluidlubrication effect significantly affected the forming quality. Wang et al [15] studied the blank shape and pressure-loading path on the AA2024 irregular box sheet hydroforming process, and they found that the part can be formed with the appropriate blank shape and die cavity pressure.…”

“…are also increasing, 1) and the sheet forming based on the pressure of flexible medium is an advanced manufacturing technology 2) that develops gradually to adapt to this demand. Flexible medium forming regards the liquid water or oil, 3) viscous medium, 4) polyurethane 5) or ball particles 6) as the force transmission medium during the sheet forming. This method is not only suitable for the forming for multi variety, large quantities and complex shape parts, but also solves some forming problems of low plastic sheet.…”
