Background: Inflammation of gingival or gingivitis is most prevalent in general population. Long-term usage of other adjunctive chemotherapeutic agents such as chlorhexidine which shows side effects such as discoloration of teeth has made the use of various herbal preparations as an adjunct to oral prophylaxis because of their reduced unwanted side effects and can be incorporated in our daily oral hygiene practice. Objective: The aim of this study is to evaluate the antigingivitis effect of a powder prepared from Pimenta dioica L. ("Allspice") leaves in a 21-day experimental clinical trial consisting of patients with chronic generalized gingivitis. Materials and Methods: A randomized clinical trial consisted of 40 patients was carried out over a period of 21 days. Forty patients were randomly divided into two groups: First group (Group A) consisted of 20 patients who were treated with oral prophylaxis only and the second group (Group B) consisted of 20 patients who were treated with experimental powder only. Both groups were subjected to different clinical parameters to evaluate the antiplaque and antigingivitis effect of the P. dioica leaf powder.

Raising livestock has been used as sidejob by farmers in Sendang because of availability of feed is problem, especially in the dry season. The utilization of local plant is expected to reduce the proportion of the cost for animal feed cost. In addition, supplementation of feed or herbal medicine is expected to accelerate the growth of animals to increase farmers' profits. This program aimed to provided solutions for feed endurance as well as provided knowledge to farmers about the use of medicinal plants to accelerate the growth of livestock. This program consists of three stages as followed: socialization and counseling, fermentation and herbal weightlifting ration formulation training and then evaluation. This program conducted for 45 days. The result was farmer awareness of local feed potency in Sendang village, increasing of farmer understanding about fermentation and supplement ration, ration formulation utilized directly by participant. To support the sustainability of the program, team created modules, supervised and coordinated with the head of the farmer group.

Gingivitis can trigger gingival diseases such as periodontitis. Since the complete removal of microbial plaques by mechanical procedures is not conceivable in some conditions and also chemical mouthwashes have a lot of side effects, finding a new treatment strategy would be useful. In the present study, for the first time, the effects of oral nano‐curcumin on gingival inflammation in patients with gingivitis and mild periodontitis were assessed. Forty eight patients with gingivitis and mild periodontitis participated in this clinical trial. In one group the patients were treated with Sina curcumin capsules 80 mg and the other group received a placebo. Clinical parameters, including modified gingival index, papillary bleeding index, and plaque index were determined on days 0, 7, 14, and 28. There were no significant differences in age, sex, papillary bleeding index (PBI), and modified gingival index (MGI) between the two groups at baseline. There was a dropout of two patients (both from the placebo group). The MGI and PBI have a significantly decreasing trend in both case and control groups and the decreases were severe in the case group. The differences between PBI and MGI in the two groups were significant at 14 and 28 days. The plaque index did not significantly change in either group over the study period. The trend of changes in plaque index was not different between the two groups of the study. In the current study, no side effect was found in the patients. Oral nano‐curcumin has positive effects on the decrease of inflammation and gingival bleeding in patients with gingivitis and mild periodontitis. Nano‐curcumin capsules have a systemic target site with more bioavailability than topical forms.
