Effect of menopause on hormonal receptors in ampullae of the fallopian tube with a special reference to the p53 signature

Abstract: ObjectivesAge-related changes in the expression of hormonal receptors have not been well examined in the fallopian tube (FT). We herein report the effect of menopause on the hormone receptors in ampullae of the FTs (AFTs), in comparison with cortical inclusion cysts (CICs) of the ovary.MethodsA total of 84 AFTs and 16 fimbriae of FTs, which were obtained from 26 premenopausal and 58 postmenopausal women; and 27 postmenopausal CICs were immunohistochemically studied for the expression of p53, Ki-67, estrogen re… Show more

“…This finding is consistent with other reports revealing ER and PR immunolocalization in fallopian tubes of both pre-and postmenopausal women. Expression of ER and PR was demonstrated in the nuclei of ciliated and nonciliated cells of the fallopian tubes, as well as in the tubal stroma and smooth muscle cells [17,18,[20][21][22]24,[31][32][33][34][35][36][37].…”

“…There are available reports on the immunolocalization and immunoexpression of ER and PR in the fallopian tubes of premenopausal women [17][18][19][20][21][22][23][24]. However, according to current knowledge, there are only a few reports on the expression of ERα and PR in normal human fallopian tubes after menopause [17][18][19][20].…”

“…Початкові дослідження показали, що аденозин в низьких концентраціях викликає слабке тонічне скорочення м'язової оболонки маткових труб, а у високихпригнічення скорочень. У наступних дослідженнях показано, що ця реакція зменшується при запальному процесі у маткових трубах [63]. Серія експериментів присвячена вивченню впливу аденозину на циліарну активність війчастих клітин, а саме він збільшує частоту коливання війок [64].…”
