Effect of human activities on floristic composition and diversity of desert and urban vegetation in a new urbanized desert ecosystem

Abstract: Human impact in newly urbanized deserts creates new environments that may favor the establishment/dominance of certain plant species. In this study, we showed how the human activities during desert urbanization do affect distribution, composition and diversity of plant species in a new urban ecosystem. In a field study during 2015–2016 and 2017–2018 growing seasons, we investigated these vegetation criteria in three new habitats created recently due to human manipulations in addition to the old habitat of such… Show more

“…Rapid urbanization can have an impact on various components of the environment, including land, and is, therefore, a challenge for conservation of biodiversity (Rebelo et al 2011;Patra et al 2018). Urbanization replaces natural habitats with infrastructures, such as houses, buildings, roads and other impervious surfaces, which can result in changes in species composition (Vanegas-Guerrero et al 2016;Hassan and Hassan 2019).…”

“…According to the guiding ideology of ecological civilization construction, Chen(2019) puts E3S Web of Conferences 185, 02037 (2020) ICEEB 2020 http://doi.org/10.1051/e3sconf/202018502037 forward the countermeasures and suggestions for the construction of agricultural ecological civilization in the process of urbanization [1] . Hassan(2019)&Wu(2019) points out that the transition from rural areas to urbanization has caused a certain degree of damage to the agricultural ecological environment, and through agricultural ecological compensation, farmers are given certain compensation while taking into account the economic benefits and value of agriculture, in order to accelerate the development of urbanization [2][3] . At the same time, Ye(2017)&Farahani(2018) also points out that the development of urbanization and high-yield agriculture requires more and more ecological agriculture.…”
